Level Up - Week 1 of the school holidays at Cambridge Library

To celebrate the launch of our boardgame collection, we have themed this first week of the holidays around games! From Minimakers and roleplaying games, to chess tournaments and award-winning party games you are bound to find something fun and engaging at the Cambridge Library this week!

What's on for the first week:

Monday 22nd @ 10.30am

MINIMAKERS:

Come play with some of our cool S.T.E.A.M. toys and games! This event is particularly good for the younger ones out there, though we also have Lego for the older kids too.

Tuesday 23rd @ 10.30am - 12.30pm (ages 11+ to adult)

RUNNING ROLEPLAYING GAMES FOR YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS:

Learn some tips and tricks for successfully running your own roleplaying games, from one-shot adventures to full campaigns! From how to prepare your games and managing your workload, to player engagement and resolving disputes in your group. This advice is system agnostic and please feel free to bring your own questions.

We learned things the hard way so you don't have to!
Plus, after this session, go get some lunch and you could run a session at 1.30 for our Oneshot Adventures

Tuesday 23rd @ 1.30pm - 4.00pm

ROLEPLAYING GAMES - ONESHOT ADVENTURES:

If you want to try running or sharing some new roleplaying systems and adventures, here is your chance.
We are going to need a good mix of players and game masters for this one. If you are keen to run or play something new, come on down!

GMs and players of any experience are welcome.
Games don't need to run the full duration of the event, but must be concluded by 4.00 pm so we can pack down.

GMs please note that there will likely be kids present, even if they are not playing at your table. Maybe leave Call of Cthulhu and Mothership at home for this one. Any appropriate systems and adventures welcome!

Wednesday 24th @ 10.30am

CASUAL BOARDGAMES:

Come and play some games from our new boardgames collection and if you like them, you can issue them and share them with friends!

Thursday 25th @ 10.30am

CASUAL CHESS TOURNEY:

Take part in our casual chess tournament! Meet some new people to play against and win some prizes. All skill levels and ages welcome; but you must know how to play chess; this is not a class.

If you know about castling then you are good to go!

Friday 26th @ 10.30am and 2.00pm (both sessions ages 11+ to adult)

BLOOD ON THE CLOCKTOWER:

Experience this incredible, award-winning game of mystery, lies and deduction for five-to-twenty courageous players and one devious storyteller...

Can good find the imp in time to save the village of Ravenswood Bluff? Or will evil overrun this once peaceful town?

Blood on the Clocktower is a social game played in person. Each player receives either a ‘good’ or ‘evil’ token with their unique character on it. Good players share information to solve the mystery whilst evil players lie about who they are and what they know.

The good team wins if they can piece together their knowledge, trust each other, and execute the imp. The evil team wins if the imp can sow distrust, evade detection, and wipe out the village.

Why no week two?
