The Driver

30 September 2022
Genre: Suspense
Series: John Milton

I was captivated by Mark Dawson's novel, Saint Death. It was my first novel by Mr Dawson. And the inclusion of the first few chapters of his next book, ie this one, really made me want to continue on and read it.

John Milton has a chequered past which he is on the run from. MI6 is trying to find him, but he is an expert at staying hidden as long as he stays out of trouble.

He moves around a lot and picks up work where he can. He attends AA meetings everywhere he can. One thing he can't stop himself from doing is looking out for others.

This particular night he has a young lady to drop off at a party at an exclusive out of the way residence. Her regular driver is unavailable. John doesn't like the situation and decides to stay until she is ready to leave. When he hears a scream he knows she's in trouble, she runs from the scene and he can't catch up to her.

Then the search is on to find her with the help of her boyfriend, all in the hope that the fate of some other females who had gone missing is not the fate that has befallen her.
