The book covers the period from the end of World War 2 to 1970s. The author wrote it in 2021 at a time when she saw overriding uncertainty & division in societies world-wide. Her aim with this book is to tell a story full of joy (despite any hardships) and which is a testament to the power of friendships and close community.

Set against a backdrop of Florence and London’s East End it’s a story of life’s ups and downs, friendships won and lost, love, relationships, new beginnings and second chances. There’s a wide range of characters, some make fleeting appearances, others form the spine of the story. There is lots of humour - some slapstick & laugh out loud, some more subtle and of a dry wit. It is also a love song to Florence and Art.

I loved it. I feel it is one of the best books I have read.
