Jac has been away from her father and sister for several years now, but she's back from Australia in order to find her sister Charlie who has been missing for a few days. The texts came from her father, who is sadly also the town drunk.

Not a day passes after her arrival and her father is found drowned in the creek. But not that it really bothers Jac, she just wants to find her sister.

Not having a place to stay, she happens to be snooping around the old Gilmour Hotel only to be accosted by the owner, Iris, who flat out offers her a job in exchange for board. It's a strange place and Iris's daughter Lisa is also living there.

Charlie we know is being held captive in a cage and as the story develops we find out she has been taken for a reason and that this also has something to do with Paige, Iris' favourite daughter.

Paige's story is the second timeline in this book and this is where the intrigue starts ...
