A quiet man

I've now read a number of Tom Wood's 'Victor' novels and I wasn't quite sure what to make of this one.

To be frank I almost missed seeing it as the cover is nothing like the usual covers.

The storyline was also different. Usually Victor is on an assignment, but on this occasion his assignment is over and he's lying low awaiting a return 'home'.

He doesn't go looking for trouble, but trouble soon finds him as he involves himself in the hunt for child and his mother.

It's a little hard to get into, but eventually comes to the fore and Wood's prose is easy to follow. Victor also gets up to his usual antics.

I finished it quickly which is a good sign, but it's not quite up to his other novels.
