Heritage Month 2023

Posted on 26 January 2023

February is Heritage Month for Waipā District Libraries. This year we are able to offer both in person events and outdoor activities for those keen to research their local history and heritage.

The scavenger hunt is available in both Cambridge and Te Awamutu, with questions unique to both locations. We are inviting entries from all ages, with one major prize of a KoboLibra2 eReader package valued at $350.

The popular heritage walks in Cambridge make a welcome return, hosted by Michael Jeans and Sue Milner, while in Te Awamutu take a virtual tour of Te Awamutu's changing architecture with an inhouse photographic presentation by Alan Hall.

There is also an opportunity to hear about stories from the graves in old St John's Churchyard and a chance for families to have fun with retro games and toys in Cambridge.
