Books Alive Special Event - #Tumeke

This year an innovative approach to the Books Alive events, associated with the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults, has been created in response to challenges caused by the pandemic.

Books Alive finalist events (and virtual storytimes) are being offered online for the first time and we are hosting one of them!

#Tumeke is a finalist in the Wright Family Foundation Esther Glen Award for Junior Fiction.

Michael Petherick's multimedia mash-up comes to life in this Books Alive special event.

Our Librarians showcase their acting talents combined with local Cambridge celebrities in a handful of sketches from the book. Starring world champion cyclist Sarah Ulmer as the Newtoun School Senior Syndicate Leader; former All Black and Chiefs assistant coach Tabai Matson as Constable Rutene; Rishi's rap performed by The Breeze Radio Host Camille Guzzwell; and author Michael Petherick in a cameo role as Steve Vibrant, Art Teacher. All followed by a brief interview with Michael.
